Solar Feed-in Tariff

Your feed-in tariff is the amount per kilowatt you are paid for energy that your solar system feeds power back into the grid, via your energy meter. This occurs when your solar system is producing more energy than you are using to power your house.

Feed-in tariffs vary considerably by state, and where you live within that state. The amount is usually made up of two components:

• The amount your state government pays you (if applicable) and the amount your energy retailer pays you.
• The amount energy retailers pay you will vary dramatically, so it is worth shopping around for a good feed-in tariff.

Solar Monster strongly suggests you consider changing energy retailers once your solar system has been installed. If you switch to a higher feed-in tariff, you will be able to pay for your new solar system more quickly and make a better return on your investment. We also urge you to make sure the correct government paperwork has been submitted to your network distributer. Your solar company should do this for you, but some companies forget to process the paperwork which means you end up missing out on your feed-in tariff.
